nature morte

"Nature Morte" explores the gradual melting of reality into darkness - in contemplating the "so called" truth of reality, Oliver's work conveys the disillusion of reality and in this way shadows our everyday ideologies. Night landscapes are presented, paradoxically, as stages for communication and the enlightenment of our conceptual mind. It is through this means that Oliver utilises the honesty of the natural world, as a way of commenting on the falsity of human understanding. Oliver's "Nature Morte" plays with the imagination and gives space for curiosity and invention. His worlds are dark boxed in habitats, inviting us to question whether we find meaning in the dark space or if what truly exists is just the nothingness.
